These talks and tours are open to all (no booking required) and follow on from our highly successful and award winning series of walks which took place last year. These events are brought to you by Killiney Village Residents Association in collaboration with Killiney Historical Society and the Committee for the preservation & maintenance of Cill Iníon Léinín Ancient Church & Graveyard.

Local history enthusiast, Brian McBryan will talk to us about the history of the Ancient Church and this will be followed by a dramatic monologue performed by Catherine Beatty in character as Rosalie Dillon, taking us back in time to the 19th century at the Dillon family graveside.

The Churches of Killiney Village and their stained glass windows
Friday 22nd August at 3pm. Meeting Point Killiney Hill Tea Rooms. Duration 90 minutes.

At the Tea Rooms located at the entrance to Killiney Hill Park on Killiney Hill Road, local historian, Alice Cullen will introduce this event with an explanation of the development of Killiney Hill Park. A short stroll will then bring us to Holy Trinity Church where history enthusiast, David Millar, will explore, in our company, this beautiful building which is steeped in history. The Church was designed by Sandham Symes and opened in 1858. We will then visit the modern Church of Saint Stephen which is just across the road. This small Chapel of Ease won an Architectural Award in 1984 and is graced with altar furniture by Imogen Stuart and stained glass by Helen Moloney.
Dr David Caron, an art historian who specialises in stained glass, will speak about Harry Clarke’s Angel of Hope and Peace (1918–9) and Hubert McGoldrick’s Annunciation and Crucifixion (1943–5) in Holy Trinity Church, and Helen Moloney’s Sanctuary Window (1982) in St Stephen’s Church.
